Heat pump grants for apartments
Apartments can qualify for SEAI heat pump grants, including €6,500 air-to-water, but many flats cannot install that system due to outdoor space, management rules or noise limits.
- Air-to-air (€3,500) — most commonly suitable
- Exhaust air (€4,500) — where mechanical ventilation exists
- Air-to-water (€6,500) — usually ground-floor or private outdoor space only
Solar PV for apartments
Apartments may be eligible for solar PV grants, but shared roofs and management company agreement often make installation more complex.

Whole-home upgrade pathway
Deep retrofit energy upgrades
A deep retrofit is a full-home upgrade toward a stronger BER — often combining insulation, heating, ventilation, windows/doors and solar over a planned sequence of works.
- Suitable for older or hard-to-heat homes
- Can cut heating bills and improve comfort
- External wrap is often the fabric upgrade that unlocks the rest
- External Wrap delivers grant-eligible external wall insulation as part of that plan
